Change is an event, like a merger, acquisition, or new management. Even the explosive growth of your business with increasingly more customers and new products or services is a noteworthy change event. Transition is how we reorient and redefine ourselves in response to these impactful events. Without a properly executed transition plan, including leadership coaching and development plans for employees, change simply won’t work effectively.

California State Institute for Social Business, MVS School of Business & Economics at Cal State Channel Islands – Professor Maria Ballesteros-Sola
 
The Challenge: Develop a new type of mentor program specifically to assist and guide a group of students who were creating a business plan for a local non-profit social enterprise start-up, which later became known as “Farmer for a Day.”
 
Our Solution: As an external advisor, Fern created a nurturing environment where both students and the non-profit’s leader were comfortable opening discussing and sharing ideas. To help facilitate open and honest dialog, curriculum was developed specific to their cause for use in team building exercises.

 

Fantastic Results: Over the course of three semesters, students were able to successfully complete and implement a viable business plan. This social enterprise, Farmer for a Day has now progressed as an organization and is actively being marketed to potential clients in Ventura County.
